JTEC registers, regulates, and helps to develop tertiary institutions in Jamaica, ensuring quality and accessibility.

Institutions seeking registration should contact JTEC directly for guidance on the application process and requirements.

JTEC focuses on registration, policy, and coordination, while accreditation is handled by the University Council of Jamaica (UCJ).

JTEC only provides information on funding and scholarships through their scholarship database and programme tuition fee database.

Students should consult JTEC's official resources or contact them directly to confirm the recognition status of an institution.

You can reach JTEC through their official website, where information will be available regarding their telephone number, email, social media handles, and the location of their office in Kingston.

JTEC develops policies, conducts research, and facilitates collaboration among tertiary institutions to enhance education quality.

A list of accredited programmes and UCJ-approved degrees may be found by clicking http://ucj.org.jm/content/ucj-approved-degrees. If the institution is not accredited by the UCJ, it is possible that it may be accredited by another agency in another jurisdiction. Check with the institution to find out the accrediting agency.

The Fair Trading Commission (www.jftc.com) and the Consumer Affairs Commission (http://www.consumeraffairsjamaica.gov.jm) are the two government agencies to which students can lodge complaints. However, with the establishment of JTEC, the Commission will be collaborating with both agencies through the mechanism of Memoranda of Understanding to help resolve students’ complaints.
